Building and Cultivating Quality Relationships
January 22 - 25, 2026
The Saruk Centre's 2026 Winter Leadership Conference brought together students, mentors, and experienced leaders for an inspiring weekend focused on one essential leadership principle: Building and Cultivating Quality Relationships. Throughout the conference, participants were challenged to think beyond networking and discover how authentic relationships become the foundation for effective leadership, personal growth, and meaningful service.
Our diverse lineup of presenters offered practical wisdom drawn from their own professional and personal experiences. Delicia Adams encouraged participants to consider the importance of healthy relationships, emotional well-being, and personal growth, reminding us that strong leaders first learn to care for themselves and those around them.
Health and leadership were further explored by Kylene Heykants, who demonstrated how physical and mental wellness directly influence our ability to lead others with clarity, resilience, and purpose. Her practical strategies reinforced that sustainable leadership begins with healthy daily habits.
Leadership within community and faith was highlighted by Jordan Cavanaugh, who shared insights on serving others with authenticity, vision, and humility. His experiences emphasized that effective leaders invest in people first and create environments where others can thrive.
Participants also heard from Teresa Bruce, a graduate of the Saruk Leadership Program, who reflected on the value of mentorship, meaningful relationships, and serving others. Her journey illustrated how investing in people creates opportunities for both personal and community transformation.
Beyond the presentations, the weekend provided countless opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and relationship-building. Through shared meals, group activities, and informal conversations, participants strengthened existing friendships while forming new connections with fellow emerging leaders and mentors.
As the conference concluded, attendees left equipped with practical leadership tools, renewed inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for the role that quality relationships play in every aspect of leadership. The weekend served as a reminder that leadership is not simply about achieving goals—it's about investing in people, building trust, and creating lasting positive impact.
Thank you to our speakers, mentors, volunteers, and participants for making this year's Winter Leadership Conference such a meaningful experience. We look forward to seeing how these lessons continue to shape the next generation of leaders.
